Eye Lid Lift Patient #3

This is a 58 year-old woman from Chicago who presented to Dr. Sweis complaining of having an aged appearance to her eyes. She was particularly bothered by the excess skin of the upper lids and the wrinkles and puffiness of the lower lids. Upon physical examination she was noted to have excess skin of the upper lids and protrusion of the fat pads along both the upper and lower eyelids. The excess skin along the upper eyelids (dermatochalasis) was worse on the patient’s left than on the patient’s right. In addition, there was a minimal amount of protrusion (pseudoherniation) of the upper lid medial and central fat pads, which is what leads to the perceived puffiness. The patient also had minimal protrusion (pseudoherniation) of the lower lid medial, central and lateral fat pads, with the right side being worse than the left.

After discussing her options, the patient elected to proceed with a bilateral upper Eye Lid Lift, bilateral transconjunctival lower Eye Lid Lift (incision was made inside the lower eyelid without an external scar), along with Erbium Yag laser resurfacing around the eyes to tighten the skin and improve the wrinkles. These photos were taken 3 months following her surgery.
